How to Use a Face Moisturizer For Men
New to using a face moisturizer for men? No problem. We’ve got you covered on how to properly use it and when to use.
Why Use a Face Moisturizer For Men?
As you go about your day (and life), the environment reduces the amount of moisture within your skin cells – the wind, the sun, as you sweat, and other factors reduce skin cell “fullness”. A dry face can often look weathered, saggy, and make wrinkles appear more prominent. A men’s face moisturizer will help your skin look firm, hydrated and energized.
Apply to a Cleansed Face
You always want to make sure to wash your face using a men’s face wash prior to using men’s face lotion. Applying to a non-cleansed face can cause the moisturizer to seal in oil, sweat and other impurities into your pores. Use a face wash for men that is meant for your skin type. If you don’t know your skin type – learn it. It’s critical to know on your way to better skin.
Dry Your Skin
Always make sure your skin is completely dry your skin before applying the men’s face moisturizer. Applying to wet skin can cause the moisturizer to not absorb quickly and can also create a slight shine.
When to Apply
Apply a face moisturizer for men after you’ve cleansed your skin in the morning and at night. Applying in the morning will help your skin look refreshed to take on the day and applying at night will help restore the skin to prevent aging. If you suffer from extremely dry skin, you may want to do a quick reboot mid day by buying a travel size to carry along with you during the day.
Use Only a Little
Dab just a little bit of the men’s face lotion (about a dime size amount) onto the finger tips of one of your hands. Gently rub the tips of your fingers together with the other hand and then rub the moisturizer all over your face. Take special care to add a little extra to your forehead and around your eye sockets as these are the areas men start to age first and most quickly.
If there are any areas of your skin, such as your nose, that are more prone to acne or clogged pores, apply a little less lotion on those areas.
If you have a beard or other facial hair, it’s completely fine to rub the moisturizer into your beard and the skin underneath. We do however, suggest you use beard oil for beards and goatees as an oil will better absorb into the beard than a lotion.
What Not To Do
Don’t use an excess amount of the men’s face lotion as your skin can only absorb so much at a time – an excess will cause a shiny look.
Don’t use a moisturizer filled with chemicals that can irritate the skin or buy a cheap drugstore brand. Your face is your money maker, so spend the extra money to buy the best natural face moisturizer for men.
