What Should You Use: A Men’s Body Wash or Men's Soap Bar?

We’re often asked whether a guy should use a men's bar soap or a body wash for men when in the shower. This is no surprise as body wash now accounts for nearly 40% of the shower market. The answer is surprisingly simple though.

If you often get dry, itchy skin on your body, you’ll want to use a natural body wash for men.

If you often get build up of dry, dead skin and want squeaky clean skin, you’ll want to use a mens soap bar.

When to Use a Men’s Soap Bar

When it comes to cleanliness, nothing beats a men's soap bar. The best soap for men should make your skin feel really clean, but not dry. Cheap, drugstore brands can often cause incredibly itchy skin creating skin sensitivity. A men's soap bar should contain not only powerful natural cleansers such as tea tree oil and olive oil, but also skin hydrating ingredients like coconut oil and shea butter.

Guys often get dry skin build up along their elbows, knees and shins. We highly suggest your soap also include an exfoliating or scrubbing feature such as ground peppermint leaves to help smooth out those rough edges.

When to Use a Body Wash for Men

Got dry or sensitive skin? An all natural body wash for men will quickly become your best friend. The best thing about men’s body wash is that it’s easier to add in hydration ingredients such as aloe, glycerin, and Vitamin E than in soap, so they’re able to better hydrate the skin.

When using a natural body wash for men, remember, you won’t feel squeaky clean like with a bar of soap or drug store body wash and this is because men’s body washes leave more essential oils on the body, needed to maintain skin hydration. If you’re a guy who needs to use a men's body lotion after a shower, you might discover using a natural, organic body wash for men might allow you to not need it anymore.

Tip: If you want to add in some exfoliation or really pump up the lather, use with a loofah or sponge.
