The Grooming Manual
Are You Making These Major Shaving Mistakes?
Shaving is a pretty standard activity for most guys. It’s perhaps the most common form of men’s grooming in the world.
Do you have to show up clean shaven for work each day? You might already have a daily shaving routine.
Maybe you’ve embraced a scruffier look. Or you’ve gone full beard and can hardly remember the days when you used to shave.
Regardless, shaving is a daily reality of life for most men. And the sad part is - even though you’re doing it all the time - you’re probably doing it wrong.
Yes, it’s true. Most guys don’t take care of their skin when they shave.
Are you committing these major shaving mistakes? If so, it’s time to make some changes to your approach to skincare for men.
Mistake #1 - You Use Foaming Shave Cream
When it comes to shaving, foam is not your friend. That frothy mess is nothing more than tiny air bubbles. And those bubbles are not doing much to protect your skin from your razor.
Foaming shave cream is common, but that doesn’t make it good.
Want to reduce razor burn, razor bumps, and shave irritation? Make the change to a non-lather, natural shave cream for men.
Choose one with natural and organic ingredients that hydrate and project your skin. You’ll get a closer shave with less irritation.
Mistake #2 - You Use Aftershave with Alcohol or Menthol
Again, this is a huge problem. Alcohol and menthol are both terrible skin irritants. Splash your alcohol-laden aftershave on and you’re basically asking for problems.
Alcohol dries out and tightens your skin. This is the opposite of what you want to do after you shave.
Your skin needs to be hydrated to prevent irritation. Sure, alcohol is antiseptic. But there are plenty of natural antiseptic ingredients that are much better for your skin than alcohol.
Be smart and change to an alcohol-free aftershave - one with natural ingredients that soothe your skin. The result will be smoother, better hydrated skin with far less shave irritation.
Mistake #3 - You Don’t Exfoliate
If you’re not using face scrub for men, you’re not getting the best shave possible. It’s just that simple.
Your skin’s outermost layer is mostly dead skin cells. There’s also the days dirt and grime sitting on there. And bacteria can collect on your skin too.
To remove all that junk, you should use face wash for men and face scrub for men before shaving.
Face scrub exfoliates away the outer layer of dead skin. It stands your facial hair up and away from skin for a close shave with fewer ingrown hairs. And it prevents irritation by removing debris that could cause redness and itchiness.
Mistake #4 - You Don’t Moisturize Daily
Well-hydrated skin is always easier to shave. When you start with a smooth, clean surface, your experience will be better.
If you never use face moisturizer for men, you’re not doing yourself any favors in the shaving department.
Use face moisturizer for men twice daily - once in the morning and once before bed - for the best results. This will protect your skin from dehydration. It also prevents the early onset of common signs of aging.
And - perhaps best - it will make every shave significantly smoother and easier.
Mistake #5 - You Use a Dull Razor
Don’t be cheap about your razors. If you’re using a disposable cartridge razor, make sure you change it frequently. That means every 4-5 shaves - at the most.
Keep using it and you’ll significantly increase your chances of suffering from all kinds of shave trouble.
For even better results, switch to a safety razor. You’ll quickly get accustomed to it and enjoy the close, smooth shave you get.
Make Shaving Better
Getting a better shave isn’t rocket science. It’s easy if you have the right approach and the right products.
Switch to a natural shave cream for men and always follow up with alcohol-free aftershave. You’ll look and feel better - with less irritation and smooth, clean style.
